Linking to the Scientology Volunteer Ministers Web Site

I just found out that you can link to the Volunteer Ministers web site, using a logo that automatically links back to the site. I found it on one of my favorite blogs: http://www.blogstudio.com/premierexec/ Here's my favorite one:

Scientology Volunteer Ministers of the Church of Scientology of Tampa

I have a number of friends at the Church of Scientology of  Tampa, and I was happy to see this article on the Scientology Volunteer Ministers web site about the work they do.

One think I particularly liked in the article is:

L. Ron Hubbard, the founder of the Scientology religion, launched the Volunteer Ministers program with an essay titled Religious Influence in Society in which he said, “If one does not like the crime, cruelty, injustice and violence of this society, he can do something about it. He can become a VOLUNTEER MINISTER and help civilize it, bring it conscience and kindness and love and freedom from travail by instilling into it trust, decency, honesty and tolerance.”

I found this interesting article about Scientology Volunteer Ministers in Calcutta at the book fare that was held there earlier this year.  Volunteer Ministers use booklets that are taken from various chapters of the Scientology Handbook and these booklets were featured at the fare.

Scientology Volunteer Ministers are in Calcutta this week (written "Kolkata" in India) and have presented the Scientology Handbook booklets to those attending.  The photos here show how popular their exhibit was.

Here's what it says on the site:

"
Scientology Volunteer Ministers have arrived at the Calcutta Book Fair, where they are displaying and presenting the Volunteer Minister booklets, based on the works of Scientology founder, L. Ron Hubbard. Contained in these booklets are principles and techniques to help anyone improve aspects of life such as marriage, the raising of children, efficiency in the workplace, relationships, communication skills and helping those who are troubled or distressed."

Celebrities and Guests Mingle at Hollywood Gallery

I just found this story on the web site of the Foundation of Human Rights and Tolerance.

Hollywood actor and celebrity Jason Lee hosted a special Tsunami Survivors Photo Exhibition to raise money for relief efforts in the hard-hit southeast Asian countries. The exibit of photographs of the post-tsunami scene centered around the people and how they are surviving.

The event was sponsored by the International Foundation for Human Rights and Tolerance and the Scientology Volunteer Ministers organization, both of which sent relief workers to the area. Funds from sales of photographs.

For more information on the work Jason Lee and other well known Scientologists have done to better conditions in society, go to the web site of Scientology Celebrity Centre International

Many Scientologists volunteer time to introduce people to Dianetics:the Modern Science of Mental Health.

Here's a story from the official Scientology Web site about this:

Dianetics Stress Test From Los Angeles and New York in the United States to Sydney and Melbourne in Australia, the churches of Scientology's free stress tests and Dianetics display tables are generating interest around the world.

Last year, as a public service, volunteer Scientologists and Dianetics counselors began providing free stress tests in the community. These can now be found in almost any city — at malls, railway stations, or virtually any area people frequent.

In New York, even in the freezing winter weather, volunteers can be found at tables cheerfully assisting interested persons in learning how Dianetics techniques can relieve stress.

"Stress tests are done by Scientology volunteers on an E-Meter , a religious artifact Scientology counselors routinely use to aid parishioners in locating areas of stress and travail.

"The person giving the stress test, without needing to know what that person's life situation is, will point out when a reaction occurs on the E-Meter. Persons being tested will often wish to watch the E-meter dial themselves during the test.

"An amazing array of stressful situations comes up, from family situations and financial problems to regret over wrong actions carried out in the past. Something can be done about stress using the methods covered in the book Dianetics: The Modern Science of Mental Health."

One story relayed was that of a volunteer in New York who discovered a young man whose father had died suddenly the previous week. He helped the man on the spot, working with him to de-intensify the shock and loss. Relieved, the man offered to pay but was told that this is a public service, designed to assist people in becoming aware of what is causing them stress and offering tools to relieve it.

Another good site is Dianetics: the Evolution of a Science
And here is one I recommend for more information on L. Ron Hubbard
