Scientology Volunteer Ministers in Boston Mass

There's a terrific Story in the Boston Globe today about the Scientology Volunteer Ministers.

 Johnny Diaz, Globe Staff writes:

"A walk through Codman Square past the shoulder-to-shoulder houses of worship can put you in a spiritual state of mind: Greater Life Baptist Church, The Temple of Restoration, Global Ministries Christian Church.

"But one storefront in particular, with its eight-pointed cross, has piqued local curiosity.

'' 'Dorchester Scientology, Something Can Be Done About It," a poster on its window declares.

"The Rev. Robert Castagna, who heads the Dorchester operation and was ordained by the Church of Scientology, said he doesn't pay much attention to the controversy that has touched on the religion and its stance against antidepressant drugs.

"He said he just wants to help a community that he believes needs help, as part of the Church of Scientology's outreach."

this program was established by the Church of Scientology of Boston, and Its good to see these Scientology volunteers getting the credit they deserve.

Scientology Volunteer Ministers Goodwill Tour Opens in Grand Style in Brazil

Just found this article at the Scientology Volunteer Ministers site:

To the music of a military police band and a Brazilian dancing ensemble, and a welcome from 400 uniformed police and fire fighters, the Scientology Volunteer Ministers (VMs) Goodwill Tour opened its doors Saturday in Salvador, capital of the Brazilian state of Bahai, with a Catholic priest joining representatives from the Churches of Scientology in South America, to cut the ribbon on the VM's distinctive yellow tent. The Senior Commander of the military police for the state of Bahai told the cheering crowd that he intends to train his military personnel in Volunteer Minister techniques. The Grand Opening, attended by hundreds of guests, marked an enthusiastic start to the VM's Goodwill Tour.

Father Sadoc, a priest from the Catholic Church welcomed the Scientology Volunteer Ministers to Brazil, adding that God accepts everything that is good for people. “It is a not a matter of religious differences, it is a matter of help,” emphasized Father Sadoc, who said that he was extremely pleased with the knowledge the VM Tour will bring to his country.

Thanking him, Scientology church representative Lucia Winther spoke of the need of religion in today's society and introduced the Volunteer Minister program, which she described as containing practical tools that anyone can learn to help oneself and his fellows to improve conditions in their lives.

After the speeches, thousands toured the tent, where Volunteer Ministers were on hand to demonstrate the different services available.

I'm really happy to see this activity.  Scientology is still a very young religion (only a little over 50 years old) and there are countries where there are no Scientology churches of missions and even in countries where Scientology is very popular there are cities where you can't avail yourself of Scientology training or spiritual counseling.

These VM Goodwill tours are making Scientology applied religious philosophy available to people who would not otherwise have access to this effective help!
